Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management Systems Training

Gain a practical understanding of ISO 45001:2018 and how it supports safer, more efficient workplaces through a structured OH&S Management System.

You will learn:

• The structure and requirements of OH&S management systems in alignment with ISO 45001:2018
• Risk-based thinking and its application to modern management systems
• Documentation and evidence requirements of ISO 45001:2018
• The process approach and its benefits to business
• Effective and timely hazard identification, risk assessment, and control processes

This 2.5-day course will leave you with knowledge of ISO 45001 OH&S management system requirements. It can be joined to an additional 2-day module: Becoming a Skilled Lead Internal/External Auditor, where participants learn how evaluate and conduct management systems audits in accordance with ISO 19011:2018 Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems. Timetable

Day 1 – Wednesday

Quality management systems

• Introduction to management systems and standards
• Scope of quality and OH&S management systems within an organisation
• Understanding organisational context and leadership
• Operational control and requirements
• Process approach and risk-based thinking
• Evidence requirements of ISO 9001:2015 as underpinning knowledge of other management system requirements. 

Day 2 – Thursday

OH&S management systems

• Start at 12.30pm
• Organisational hazards, risks and controls
• Consultation and participation of workers in OH&S
• Evidence requirements of ISO 45001:2018.

Day 3 – Friday

Application of OH&S management systems

• Review of quality and OH&S management system requirements
• OH&S audit scenarios and the application of OH&S management systems standards
• Course review.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Attainment with 2 Exemplar Global competencies:

• Exemplar Global OH 45001 Auditing ISO 45001 management systems. 
• Exemplar Global QM Auditing quality management systems 

If you additionally complete our Becoming a Skilled Lead Internal/External Auditor course, you may also be eligible to complete the BSBSS00128 Lead Auditor Skill Set to attain four Nationally Recognised Training Units of Competency.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

You will complete a series of workshops during the course, which form part of the assessment. Upon the completion of each module there is a short multiple-choice quiz. You will receive continual assistance and feedback from the facilitator.

This course is ideal if you:

• Need to develop or enhance a management system or work health and safety policies
• Are involved in the management systems process and procedures
• Manage a system or oversee system auditing responsibilities
• Wish to formalise their existing knowledge with a recognised qualification.

A business background is recommended, but prior experience in auditing or management systems is not essential.

To become a registered third-party auditor under the Exemplar Global scheme, you’ll need this course plus the units of competency awarded in our Becoming a Skilled Lead Internal/External Auditor course – Exemplar Global AU26 Auditing management systems and Exemplar Global TL26 Lead audit teams.

If you wish to obtain the four nationally recognised training units, you’ll need to complete the Becoming a Skilled Lead Internal/External Auditor course and undertake the additional assessment.
