If you would like to attend an Internal Auditor course as a single participant, our Becoming a Skilled Lead Internal/External Auditor course is for you.

You will learn how to perform an effective, value-adding internal audit in alignment with ISO 19011:2011, Guidelines for auditing management systems. The course provides you with the tools and knowledge to conduct internal audits as a member of an internal audit team. We focus in particular on the interpersonal skills required of an auditor, how to structure and plan your day, and how to gather effective audit evidence to report on the audit findings. Designed to cater for an audit of any management system, this course will leave you with the skills needed for the modern workplace.

This course has the equivalent of 8 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.


Whilst this training package uses the word “audit” and its derivatives, this does not equate with the terms audit, review, or assurance in accordance with Pronouncements or Standards issued by the Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards Board. References to the term “audit” and similar terminology within this training relate to the process of auditing in accordance with ISO 19011:2018.

Course content

This one-day course will leave you with knowledge of how to conduct a management systems audit.

  • Roles and responsibilities of an auditor
  • Checklist review and creation
  • Conduct of an audit opening meeting
  • Communication skills and interview techniques
  • Effective audit evidence and sampling
  • Determining conformance and an evidence-based approach
  • Documenting audit findings.


Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Attainment with the following Exemplar Global competency:

  • Exemplar Global AU – Management systems auditing

In addition, this course has the equivalent of 8 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.



There are no prerequisites for this course.


Throughout the course, you will complete a series of workshops which form part of the assessment. A short multiple-choice exam at the completion of each module assesses the knowledge and understanding gained throughout the training. You will receive continual assistance and feedback from the trainer and are given anecdotal examples of real world audit situations.

No homework or take-home assessment. 

Who should attend

Designed to cater to people either just starting out in their auditing career, or wishing to get more out of their internal audits, you should attend if you:

  • want to become an internal management systems auditor
  • are managers responsible for their management system or management system auditing
  • wish to consolidate their existing knowledge into a formal qualification

Prior experience in auditing and management systems is not required.
