        What is ISO 22301?

ISO 22301 is an international standard for Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS). It provides a framework for organisations to develop and maintain effective framework for identifying and understanding the impact of different disruptive events, and establish, implement, and exercise plans to increase organisational resilience, respond to and recover from disruptive events when they occur.

        What does this course cover?

Our ISO 22301 business continuity training will give you an understanding of the role and requirements of ISO 22301 including business impact analysis, integration with risk management, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery. This course equips you with the skills to develop and implement effective business continuity management systems within your organisation.

What does business continuity seek to protect? ’

Business continuity aims to protect an organisation’s critical functions from being impacted by disruptive events. While every event may play out differently for different organisations, typically business continuity focuses on events which impact the 4 P’s:

        • People: Ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and stakeholders.
        • Processes: Maintaining critical business functions and operations.
        • Premises: Securing physical locations and infrastructure.
        • Providers: Managing relationships with key suppliers and partners.

What are key risk indicators for business continuity?

Key risk indicators for business continuity include system downtime, data breach incidents, supply chain disruptions, staff turnover rates, and recovery time objectives. Monitoring these indicators helps organisations promptly identify and address potential risks, ensuring resilience and continuity.

By keeping track of system outages, data breaches, supply chain issues, employee turnover, and recovery times, businesses can better prepare for and mitigate disruptions, maintaining smooth operations even during crises.

What are the five important concerns to be considered in a business continuity plan?

The five important concerns to be considered in a business continuity plan are:

        • Alignment with the Business Improvement Area (BIA): The BIA helps an organisation to understand its critical processes and systems; the BCP should seek to protect these prioritised activities from disruption, or promote rapid recovery back to regular efficiency after disruption.
        • Focus of the BCP: BCPs typically consist of three elements – Resilience (lessening the potential impact of a disruptive event before it occurs), Continuity (the ability to operate during disruption), and Recovery (resuming regular efficiency levels following an event). Understanding which element, or combination of elements, is the focus of your BCP is key.
        • Activation criteria: Knowing when to activate your BCP following a disruptive event can drastically affect your organisation’s performance and response; understanding specific loss thresholds or criteria that need to be met prior to activation will mean your organisation can respond appropriately.
        • Roles during disruption: The BCP should clearly articulate the roles, responsibilities and authorities for an organisation during its response to disruptive events – the normal chain of command may be completely changed.
        • Exercising and testing: BCPs need to be critically evaluated to ensure that they can achieve their intended objectives, which includes the establishment of an exercising and testing regime to verify that the plans will work. It’s important to note that an exercise cannot fail – it can however highlight weaknesses in the BCP that need to be addressed.

“The virtual classroom coupled with an enthusiastic trainer made the course easy to run through and as good as any face to face courses I have ever attended.”

It was evident that the trainer had significant industry related experience in auditing. They were able to reinforce learnings and keep us interested by integrating their experiences into the course with relevant and engaging real world examples.

Course was enjoyable and I like the fact that we’re given a copy of the each of the Standards!

Honestly thought it was gonna be boring. I was very wrong! Very engaging and informative. Loved all 5 days and will be back for more courses!

Really enjoyed the training. What could be a very stale topic was delivered in a very engaging and detailed way. I particularly enjoyed the conversational delivery of the content and the practical activities were challenging and well presented. The catering was great too.
