Why do I need to complete an LLN self-assessment?
The LLN self-assessment helps ensure you have the language, literacy and numeracy skills needed to participate confidently in the course. It’s not a test; it’s a quick check to make sure the course is the right fit and that we can support you if required.
It is also a regulatory requirement under the Standards for RTOs 2025 (Standard 2.2).
Is the LLN self-assessment used to decide whether I can enrol?
No. The assessment is simply to check your current skill level. It does not “pass” or “fail” you. It helps us understand whether you may need additional support to succeed.
What happens if my results show I need support?
If the LLN self-assessment identifies areas where you might need help, we will discuss suitable support options with you. This may include learning resources and reasonable adjustments.
Why is LLN important for my training?
Our courses are delivered at Certificate IV and Diploma levels, which expect participants to read and interpret information, write clearly, use workplace terminology, and communicate effectively. Having these skills supports your success in assessments and your confidence in applying what you learn.
Will my results be kept private?
Yes. Your LLN self-assessment is confidential and only used to support your learning needs. It is not shared with other students or external parties.
I’ve been in the workforce for years; do I still have to complete it?
Yes. Even experienced professionals complete the LLN self-assessment. It ensures all students start with the right foundation and helps trainers understand the group’s learning needs.
English is not my first language. Should I be worried?
Not at all. The self-assessment helps us understand how to best support your learning. Many of our students speak English as an additional language.
Do I need to prepare for the LLN self-assessment?
No preparation is required. Just complete it honestly so we can provide the best possible learning experience for you.
