This eLearn is a bridging course suitable for those who have a strong working knowledge of ISO 14001:2015. If you currently hold the Exemplar Global EM Auditing Environmental Management Systems qualification aligned to ISO 14001:2015, successful completion of this eLearning course will upgrade your competency to meet the 2026 requirements.

Please note that, to receive the updated competency unit, you must provide evidence that you have previously completed the Exemplar Global EM qualification for ISO 14001:2015.

ISO 14001 has been updated to reflect increased expectations around environmental performance, climate considerations, and organisational accountability. Organisations will have a three-year transition period from publication of the revised standard to update their certification.

The update to ISO 14001 focuses on strengthening existing requirements rather than introducing entirely new ones. It places greater emphasis on areas such as environmental risk, planning for changes to the environmental management system, understanding environmental conditions, and sustainability considerations, while also improving clarity and alignment with other harmonised management system standards.

You will complete a series of quizzes throughout the eLearn to test your skills and knowledge. These quizzes form the assessment.

You should attend if you have a strong working knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, its structure, and how it is applied within organisations and Environmental Management Systems.

If you wish to become a registered third-party or external Environmental Management Systems auditor with Exemplar Global, you will need to complete our Environmental Management Systems Lead Auditor course. Once you have obtained the Exemplar Global competencies from this course, you can register as an external auditor with them.

I've completed ISO 14001:2015, do I need to complete this course?

Yes, if you wish to update your qualifications to the latest version of the standard.  This eLearn will help you understand and apply the updated requirements of ISO 14001:2026. The 2015 version will be withdrawn following a 3 year transition period.
