RTP offers Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to help you gain recognition of your existing skills, knowledge and experience.

RPL is a great option if you have limited or no formal qualifications but extensive on-the-job experience.

What is RPL?

RPL is an opportunity for individuals with extensive on-the-job experience to demonstrate their current knowledge and achieve nationally recognised training units of competency, qualifications, and skill sets, without the need to attend or complete additional training. This experience can be demonstrated through prior training, qualifications, and education, as well as work-based learning and practice.

For RTP’s clients, this means they may be able to gain the following skill sets or units of competency through the submission of an appropriate portfolio of evidence:

  • BSBSS00128 Lead Auditor Skill Set, consisting of:
    • BSBAUD411 Participate in quality audits
    • BSBAUD511 Initiate quality audits
    • ; BSBAUD512 Lead quality audits
    • BSBAUD513 Report on quality audits
  • BSBOPS504 Manage business risk
  • BSBOPS407X Support organisational response to disruption

Portfolio of Evidence

If you believe you have the practical skills, knowledge and experience to match any of the units listed, you can compile a portfolio of evidence. This can include previously completed training and education, whether provided by another registered training organisation or elsewhere, as well as work-based evidence to show work you have previously completed.

We help to streamline the process by providing an RPL Evidence Guide. We then assess your completed portfolio. In some cases, the assessment identifies evidence ‘gaps’ or requires third-party verification of your work.

Review the competency requirements before applying for RPL

Before applying for RPL, we recommend that you review the requirements for the Skill Set or Unit of Competency on the Australian Government’s training.gov.au website. This will help you understand the performance requirements, knowledge evidence, performance evidence, and assessment conditions, for each Unit of Competency.

Access and review the details of each unit, paying particular attention to:

  • Elements and Performance Criteria
  • Performance Evidence
  • Knowledge Evidence
  • Assessment Conditions
  • Foundation Skills (where applicable)
  • Any prerequisite or packaging requirements.

Comparing your existing skills, experience, and evidence against these requirements will help you determine whether RPL is an appropriate pathway and prepare you for the assessment process.

RPL fees and charges

RPL for the BSBSS00128 Lead Auditor Skill Set, including four Units of Competency – $995 GST exempt

RPL of a single Unit of Competency – $295 GST exempt

Credit transfer

Credit transfer recognises nationally recognised training you have already completed, so you do not need to repeat equivalent units of competency. To apply, provide a certified copy of your qualification, Statement of Attainment or authenticated USI transcript showing the relevant unit codes and titles. We will review the evidence to confirm the units are current and equivalent to those included in your course. Where a direct match is confirmed, credit will be granted. Credit transfer is different from RPL, which assesses skills and knowledge gained through work experience, informal learning or previous study where an exact unit match is not available.

What our students say about our courses

“The virtual classroom coupled with an enthusiastic trainer made the course easy to run through and as good as any face-to-face courses I have ever attended.”

“Honestly thought it was gonna be boring. I was very wrong! Very engaging and informative. Loved all 5 days and will be back for more courses!”

“Let’s be honest – ISO standards aren’t exactly edge-of-your-seat material. But this course proved that with the right coach, even clauses and compliance can be compelling! Packed with real-world examples, well-paced sessions, and just the right amount of workshops, it was surprisingly enjoyable. Highly recommended!”

“It was clearly evident that the lead auditor trainer had significant industry-related experience in auditing. He was able to keep the class fully engaged with personal interaction and reinforce learnings. Getting full copies of the standards was amazing, the catering and the training location in Brisbane was perfect.”

“The trainer’s experience and real-life examples gave great context to the course material. The 5 days allowed the material to be digested in a way that was not overwhelming. I’d definitely recommend the course to others.”
